BRP DAVAO DEL SUR (LD602) participated in Exercise PAGSISIKAP 2019 at the Naval Forces Northern Luzon (NFNL) Area of Responsibility on November 25 to 28, 2019. The Commander, Northern Luzon Command, LTGEN RAMIRO MANUEL A REY AFP formally opened the exercise aboard LD602.
The annual exercise spearheaded by NFNL aims to develop Fleet-Marine units that are capable of and competent in planning and executing Amphibious Operations. Participants from the Philippine Fleet include BRP DAVAO DEL SUR (LD602), BRP PANGASINAN (PS31), 1st Patrol Boat Division, PNH432, and Naval Special Operations Unit 2 (NAVSOU2) whereas Marine components include the Marine Battalion Landing Team 12 (MBLT12), the Force Recon Group and the 76th Marine Company, Assault Armor Battalion (AABn).
LD602 conducted Well Deck Operations for the deployment of elements of MBLT12 aboard the Amphibious Assault Vehicles (AAVs) of the Philippine Marine Corps during the Amphibious Landing Operations at the shorelines of Naval Education Training and Doctrines Command (NETDC) at San Antonio, Zambales. She also participated in exercises in Navigation and Naval Tactics with PS31.
Moreover, this year’s Exercise PAGSISIKAP 2019 included the integration of Philippine Navy reservists (Sailors and Marines) in seaborne and ground combat maneuvers. In line with this, the reservists had a first-hand experience on the daily routine, watch duties and ship evolutions aboard the ship.
The exercise was formally concluded on November 28, 2019 with the Commander, NETDC, RADM LOUMER P BERNABE AFP as Guest of Honor and Speaker and was duly represented by the Deputy Commander, NETDC, CAPT ROY VINCENT T TRINIDAD PN (GSC).
