During the current COVID-19 shelter-in-place situation, there has been a notable change happening with traditionally offline businesses. As their employees are staying indoors, the aforementioned category of businesses has quickly been trying to switch to an online mode. However, this has not been completely achievable for some types of business models. Other companies, however, such as businesses that have already been using cloud technologies and other remote methods of management, have easily adapted to the new work from home standard.
Working from home is likely a prevalent option these days, but it is not necessarily a perfect solution for all. It is not an ideal setup for many workers in the San Francisco Bay Area. Some employees for large IT companies complain about an inability to fully focus on their work when they try to work from home. For example, there are challenging distractions such as noise from family members and demands from children who reside under the same roof.
Future Work Standards
It is likely that, in the future, entirely new work standardswill need to be put in place. Folks will have to become better prepared physically and mentally to protect themselves from future pandemics and other disasters, and they will need to be ready to practice social distancing. It is also possible that there will be requirements for physical offices to have private zones and extended distances between office desks. A significant number of employees may also be moved to a work from home (WFH) mode on a permanent basis.
