PMC want to add 16 more AAVs from the 8 that already have (all photos : MaxDefense) MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Navy hopes to get additional amphibious assault vehicles (AAVs) and multi-purpose attack craft (MPAC) in a bid to further enhance its modernization efforts. Navy chief Vice Adm. Robert Empedrad said they would need 16 more AAVs as it aimed to acquire two more strategic sealift vessels in addition to its two existing units.
“With the force mix of six AAVs per strategic sealift vessel, we need additional 16 AAVs since we will acquire two more strategic sealift vessels,” Empedrad said at the Navy headquarters in Manila.
“The versatile AAVs not only enhance by large ship-to-shore capabilities of the Philippine Marine Corps but can also provide combat firepower in different types of terrain as well as protection of Marine warriors,” he said. (PNA)

Ten VT-4 main battle tanks – the final lot of the total of about 50 vehicles – and 38 VN-1 armored personnel carriers, among other military equipment, arrived on Tuesday from China at a port in Chonburi province, southeast of Bangkok, a high-ranking military officer said. “The tanks and armored cars were brought to the Adisorn Cavalry Center in Saraburi province for inspection,” the officer told BenarNews on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. He declined to elaborate.

Tiba di garis tembak, Danpasmar 2 menerima penjelasan dari Danmenart 2 Mar Kolonel Marinir Encep W Gumelar tentang kesiapan personel dan material, teknis pelaksanaan uji fungsi amunisi, arah tembakan dan sasaran. Dengan didampingi oleh Kepala Laboratorium Induk Senjata Kolonel Laut (E) Sigid Amianto dari Dinas Penelitian dan Pengembangan Angkatan Laut, Danpasmar 2 selanjutnya melaksanakan pemeriksaan amunisi dan fuze roket MLRS Vampire Call 122 mm buatan Bulgaria. Dalam arahannya Danpasmar 2 mengatakan, "saya datang kesini untuk menyaksikan secara langsung proses uji penembakan ini, proses penyiapan yang bagus, mulai dari penyiapan senjata, penyiapan amunisi, dan adanya beberapa antisipasi, semoga kegiatan ini berjalan dengan aman". Lebih lanjut dikatakan, pengadaan amunisi untuk alutsista yang di miliki oleh Korps Marinir, tujuannya adalah untuk menghancurkan musuh, kuncinya adalah perkenaan dan akurasi tercapai tepat sasaran. Turut hadir pada kesempatan tersebut, Aslog Dankormar Kolonel Marinir Agung Trisnanto, Kadislaikmatim Kolonel Laut (T) Mugiyono, Danmenkav 2 Mar Kolonel Marinir Arif Handono, Kolonel Laut Andi Indra dari Mabesal dan pejabat TNI lainnya.
